Where to buy inexpensive shades?

I’m looking to buy some window shades (not drapes, but opaque or semi-opaque shades). My windows are 35in tall and 70in wide. Does anyone know where I could look to find something without breaking the bank?

    Lowes or HD

Walmart for cheap ones. If you want a little nicer ones, you could go to Lowes or Menards or Home Depot.

Please note that things are usually inexpensive for a reason. In the window fashions world, it is highly competitive and items cost what they cost…especially hard treatments such as shades, blinds, shutters, etc.

When you think about the life of the product and amortize the cost over that, you will find that the satisfaction derived from a product which will continue to give good use will be money well spent. I say this particularly because you have a wide window, this means the shade will be somewhat heavy. When I provide a shade on a window of this size, I always suggest an alternative lift system because I believe the standard “tooth and cleat” mechanism is stressed heavily by the weight of the shade…the cord wears out prematurely and there goes your shade…if you purchase it a discounter, good luck trying to get it serviced. If you can get it serviced, the cost of doing so will most likely not be justified against the original cost of the shade. You will wind up re-purchasing. Getting a shade from a dealer who is a specialist and who can provide a product which has a lifetime guarantee is the way to go. I have served many customers with bargain shades which turned out not to be such good deals.

    Best,
    Beverly
