   It’s called an awning.

   Awning (canopy awning) I know you didn’t ask for all this extra information but some glass shops carry them and they are now made of beautiful choices of fabric. You can still get the metal ones, but they are harder to find. They even have ones that are electronically controlled and some even have rain sensors available.    It depends…. Are you looking for what goes above the window? If so, it’s called an awning or a canopy.

   Shutters can be used indoors or outdoors, whereas awnings and canopies are used outdoors only.
