What color curtains should I get for insulated/blackout?

I’m looking for better privacy curtains for my front living room windows.
I already have a pretty (but transparent) bamboo shade, and a black decorative rod.
The room is eclectic, cottage chic mixed with some mod/retro elements. There’s a LOT of grey tweed/berber going on, and a lot of 70s paneling. There’s some white (I like fresh mixed with natural), pops of color in accents (yellow, magenta, fern green, rust orange…), and light pine color furniture. I know, a lot mixed up! Which is why I’m having a hard time picking good (but cheap) curtains.
They need to be about 63 length.
Would it be too much to add another textural natural looking fabric on top of the bamboo and all the paneling and tweed? Or should I go matte and simple?
Would a white or cream be too light for blackout/privacy?
If I need a darker color, what would work without making the room feel too overwhelming?
I’m looking at jcpenney online, walmart, plowhearth.com.
I’m open to other suggestions.
Thanks for the help!

You can still have a blackout curtain that is white/light as long as it’s lined.
This page has some in many colors.

Hi, Blackout curtains can be any color as they have a liner that is a tightly woven material that does not let the light through. If you do not want a dark color you can go with a light color if you get blackout curtains. http://www.windowshadesblind.com/blackout-window-curtains.html Hope this helps.
