So we just finished up a small remodel on the office. The floors are now wood a reddish mahogany, the walls are painted a soft tan, and my husband just finished framing the window and put up a beautiful trim that is in white. The question is…I really like the trim and don’t want to cover it up with a curtain…would a roman shade (or any other suggestions) work there. And I’m thinking a really pale yellow for the color…will that be ok with the colors already mentioned? And lastly if i go roman shade can that stand alone or do i need a valance or some sort of drapery to pull it all together. I’m hoping less is more but am open to ideas. Thanks…sorry so long.

roman shades are a good choice…and they dont require a valance to finish them off. I think a better color choice for your blinds would be a darker color similar to the floor.
Another option would be to go with interior shutters, or cover only the bottom 2/3 of the window with shutters and use frosted glass paint to do the upper 1/3.
You didn’t mention the design or colours of the furniture in the room. Pale yellow would not go with the tan walls. Either match the wall or floor for the shades. A plain flat valance would be nice, but not essential.
